NPCIL and Areva to set up the Jaitapur nuclear power plant

Nuclear Power Corp of India Ltd (NPICL) is in talks with Areva, the French energy major to build the Jaitapur nuclear plant which will have 2x1650 MW European Pressurized Reactors. It is working on a business model similar to Kudankulam plant, where there will be clear demarcation for the contractor work , training and commissioning process. NCIPL has already acquired the required land which can house 6 reactors. Both the NPICL and Areva are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the Nuclear Liability Bill.
