DAE plans 2 nuclear parks Kovvada and Nizampatnam in Andhra Pradesh

Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) as a part of strategic initiative is planning five nuclear parks in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra , Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal. Andhra Pradesh, which is rich in uranium reserves is to have 2 nuclear parks which will have a capacity of 10000 MW in Kovvada in Srikakulam and in Nizampatnam. The Kovvada park will have 6 indigenous reactors. Andhra Pradesh have uranium reserve estimated at 60000 tonnes. It may be noted, Nuclear Fuel Complex is also located here.
