BHEL, Bharat Forge and French energy major Areva will join hands to set up nuclear forging facility in India.  With BHEL in the venture, the company can manufacture nuclear forgings apart from heavy stainless steel forgings. Currently, forgings are well in demand particularly forgings for nuclear facility are imported. The new venture is expected to become operation by 2012 and they are currently scouting for a suitable location. With India’s forging capacity at 12.5 metric tonnes, these partners are keen to make use of domestic market as well as exports.
